About Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is a generic term that refers to any type of yoga that teaches physical postures and breathing techniques.  In practical terms “hatha” is the foundation of all asana(yoga pose) practices in yoga including vinyasa flow,power and ashtanga. Emphasis is placed on the breath while holding poses statically for 5-10 breaths, then simply moving into the next pose. Hatha allows for more time in each pose to practice using breath to open up the pose, as well as consider how the mind responds to periods of stillness.

This class is guided in English. 
All levels are welcome and will benefit. Suitable for beginners.
Focus on practising the fundamentals of a yoga practice, safe and accurate alignment of postures, use of props, sun salutations at a gentle pace and breath work (ujjayi breathing technique).Teachers will demonstrate in each asana(yoga pose). 
You will also encounter some yoga philosophy which brings to life the practices and sets them into the context of your own life. Includes – yoga breathing practices (pranayama) and some meditation.

Suitable for intermediate yoga practitioners with a consistent practice. Less emphasis on step-by-step cueing and more room to achieve advanced yoga practice. This class builds on the necessary body stability acquired in Level 1 classes to take on more challenging asanas like arm balances, inversions and deep backbends and sequences. focused on connecting the body and mind with the purpose of increasing awareness and stability. Some pranayama and meditation may be included.
Classes are taught with modifications to allow an easy transition from Level 1 to Level 2.

Leave mat at the studio – Free
(Mats that have been left for more than 6 months may be disposed with no notice.)
